Caril, Carnat's daughter is equally uncertain about the betrothal and demands an alternative method of choosing her husband. Disguises multiply as Ayarlan, Carnat's current wife; Zadan, a rogue with a resemblance to Tomak, and Bodun,an assassin in skirts, each seeks their own aim.
